THE EXPERIENCE

I'm honored to have you here and am thrilled that you have considered me to document your love story! Choosing a photographer is one of the most important decisions you can make to ensure your memories are documented beautifully and safely.

From booking to image delivery, I will provide an experience that leaves you with a happy heart, stunning photographs and memories you will cherish for years to come. My heart sings in the key of naturally lit outdoor venues, and I leap at any chance to rush off to a desert engagement, garden wedding or vineyard reception. Natural light is key to my style of photography and best for my preferred medium: film.  But while I love film, I am a hybrid photographer, so I also incorporate digital shots into any wedding day.

The Alicia Mink bride loves the elegance of lace, the dreamy romance of tulle, and all things flowing and romantic. She lives for untamed, wild florals and soft color palettes…but doesn’t fear the occasional pop of color. She is attentive to details and infuses her personality into every moment of her wedding day. But most importantly, our couples share so much love for one another and know how have a great time - enjoying all of the moments of their wedding day while we capture it all.

I believe firmly in the essential connection between couples and their photographer. Through personal connections, I am able to tell your story in the most honest, authentic way. Comfort with your photographer brings down walls, allowing the real you to shine through. It also allows you to live in the moment, so I can capture it for you to treasure long after the wedding flowers fade.

FAQ

Q: What sets you apart from the crowd?

A: Every wedding I am commissioned for I treat as if it were my own, striving to provide a personal experience for each of my couples. Additionally, in a world of Google and YouTube, I started my photography adventure the old fashion way, as a fine art photography student. Through school, I learned all technical aspects of shooting (both film and digital), post production, and put my creative abilities to the test. After graduation in 2013, I moved to California with my family to pursue my passion. You can rest easy before your wedding knowing that your images are in the best hands possible!

Q: Have you been published or featured in popular wedding blogs or social media?

A: My work has been featured in many popular wedding blogs! To check out where my work has been published click here

Q: How would you describe your particular style?

A: My style is natural, timeless, and romantic. My couples will look back at their images in 30 years and relive the moments as they were and remember how it all looked. I tend to stay away from stiff posing and really focus on interaction and moments. In post production, I will never over process your images. I like a clean, light, natural style.

Q: What is a hybrid photographer?

A: Hybrid photographers shoot in both film and digital mediums, I truly believe there is a time and place for each. Film provides gorgeous, timeless, colors while digital is reliable and fast. The combination of the two mediums together makes for an amazing end result. While my engagement sessions are shot on film only, my weddings are a mix of both. Once I get the film images back from my lab, I then match the digital images to the film for a final cohesive gallery. As my client, you get the best of both worlds!

Q: What is your backup system like for our wedding images? If something happens to the photos, it can’t be redone!

A: Making sure your images are taken and stored safely is something that I take extremely seriously. My digital camera has two memory card slots which means when I’m taking one photo it’s putting it in two places just in case one card fails. This is just the beginning of making sure the odds of a technology failure are slim. Once I get home the evening of your wedding, I back up the images onto two hard drives (again, in case of failure). From there, I keep all of the back ups in a fire proof safe in my office and when I go out of town I keep one hard drive at a family members house. The last thing I want my couples to worry about is their memories disappearing into the technology failure abyss. As my client, you’ll can rest easy knowing your files are in good hands!

Q: If you’re not available or out of budget what can we do to achieve your specific style?

A: Over the past few years of turning away brides based on availability, I decided to add a lead associate to my team. This way more couples can achieve the same look and experience that they receive from me even if I’m not the one photographing their wedding. I have carefully, hand selected, my only associate, Gillian. Gillian has been training with me since 2017 and has the same goals, passion, and vision making her an extension of me. All of my couples are treated with same care, attention, shooting and editing style .

Q: What are some steps you take over the course of our wedding planning?

A: With each of my couples, there are steps I take to ensure that the photography will run smoothly. This way you can relax and enjoy your day while we capture it. After we meet or chat on the phone and you've chosen me to capture your special day, we will then schedule your engagement session if you choose to have one. Four weeks before your big day I will send you a suggested photography timeline (or work with your planner if you have one) and a wedding day questionnaire to fill out so we can finalize your personal shot list of family members and tell me anything I'll need to know. I will bring the family shot list and timeline with me on your wedding day to stay on track so we don't miss a moment! Over the course of your wedding planning I will be available at anytime to discuss anything you may need or if you have questions, I'm always there to help out!

Q: How many images will receive from our wedding day?

A: I deliver a minimum of 75 images per hour of shooting time. All wedding collections include at least 8 hours of coverage so I am able to tell the entire story! This means you will have roughly 600 high resolution, professionally edited images in your gallery. For engagement sessions, you can expect 50-60 high resolution, professionally edited images in your gallery.

Q: Can I have my unedited images?

A: I believe in delivering the absolute best to all of my couples. When you hire Alicia Mink, it means that you are hiring an artistic vision that you love, professional post production skills, and the Alicia Mink style. I can promise the only images that will not be in your gallery will be duplicates, blurred images, lighting test shots, and images where someone is blinking or walking in front of me :) You'll have all of your best images and major moments in your gallery! I don't leave anything out!

Q: Are you licensed and have liability insurance?

A: Yes yes and yes! If a venue or wedding coordinator needs verification I will be more than happy to show them!

Q: How far in advance should I book your services and how do we book?

A: I suggest 6-12 months in advance, or as soon as you know the your date and venue. I only accept a limited number of weddings each year to provide my couples with the best care attention. To check out a list of venues I've photographed at click here! To officially book your date I require a 50% retainer and signed contract.

Q: Where are you based and do you travel?

A: I am based in beautiful Orange County, California! However, I frequently shoot in Northern California too. Travel for any wedding day is free within OC, LA, and SD. Travel fees may apply for engagement sessions outside of OC.

Q: When will I receive my photos?

A: Please allow a maximum of 10 weeks for a full wedding gallery and 4 weeks for a full engagement gallery. I go through every single photograph, choose the best images, and carefully adjust them individually for color, white balance, and sharpen for printing. I do give my couples a next day sneak peek after their wedding to tide them over while they wait!

Q: How can I receive my photographs?

A: Every collection includes an online gallery with downloading. This makes it easy to put your images on your computer, share with friends and family, and post to your social media. Also from your gallery, you'll be able to order high quality prints directly from my lab.

Q: Can I share my images online?

A: Absolutely! I believe that part of the wedding experience is sharing memories with family and friends, so please feel free to share any of your images!

Q: Do you work with a second photographer?

A: Yes! Every wedding collection includes a second photographer, so you'll have even more coverage, different angles, and more moments captured. Every one of our second photographers share the same love for wedding photography as I do, in a similar style. All images will be professionally edited by me.

Q: How does an engagement session work?

A: To capture the moments of genuine, honest emotion between two people in love, I believe it is unquestionably essential to build a connection between the couple and the photographer. By getting to know my couples, learning their stories and listening to their hopes for the future, I am able to draw out their personalities and help them to relax in front of the camera. My photography thrives on the natural and the unstaged, rather than tired, overused poses. Engagement sessions are a perfect way to get to get comfortable with your photographer before the big day, but most of all, they are so much fun! After booking, I provide a variety of engagement session tips and we will chat about everything from location to wardrobe as we create a session that is perfectly you!

Q: How do we pick a location?

A: Many couples like to choose a spot that is a part of their history. Such as, where they first met, had their first date, or even where they got engaged. If you don't have a specific "spot", then choose somewhere you'll feel comfortable, that you love going to! If you have a specific location in mind, please let me know. I love hearing all of your ideas, and creating an engagement session that replicates your style as a couple. I do recommend scheduling a session during the week due do lack of crowds and tourists. I also suggest starting our session two hours before sunset so we will have the best light. Check out some of my favorite locations here.

Q: What is included in an engagement session?

A: Engagement sessions include up to one and a half hours of shooting, two outfits, and one or two locations, this way you have lots of variety in your photographs! You will also receive a private online gallery where you can easily share and download your high resolution, professionally edited images.

Q: I saw poses on Pinterest, can you recreate my engagement board?

A: Pinterest is AMAZING. So many ideas and inspirations can be great for wedding planning, however, let's make your shoot your own! As Mark Twain said it best, "Comparison is the death of joy." Often times on Pinterest, what you see is a specific moment created by a couple in a certain location, in certain outfits, in a certain light. I think it is great to look over these ideas and focus on how couples interact in their images and what they are wearing but your shoot will be all your own! Remember, it's less about "posing" and more about movement, laughter, and having fun!
