In a sun-drenched vineyard, surrounded by wine-colored dresses and roses the shades of bubbling glasses filled with champagne and rosé, Sarah and Chris, former apartment neighbors turned lovers, tied the knot. As I strolled between the vines of Ponte Winery in the heart of Temecula wine country with the groom and his glowing new bride, I couldn’t have imagined a more beautiful day to celebrate an equally as beautiful couple, or one more different from the day Chris proposed…knee deep in snow!
My favorite part of this venue was the stunning lighting. After selecting a wedding venue, especially if any part of the ceremony, cocktail hour or reception is going to be outdoors where your photographer has no control over the lighting, I recommend that the couple visit the venue and consider when the sun will set on their wedding day. Sarah and Chris chose the perfect time for their wedding, with the sun just barely dipping behind the mountains, meaning the guests weren’t blinded during the outdoor ceremony and a romantic glow illuminated the sky. And that sunset! The bridal portraits following the ceremony, set to a backdrop of mountains painted with shades of pink, purple and blue, are breathtaking.
I couldn’t get enough of the rustic-yet-chic decorating choices Sarah made for the reception, including the seating chart on a piece of wood framed in twinkle lights. The personalized touches, from the #uleryeverafter signs to the elegant gold Mr. and Mrs. Ulery cake topper, truly made this wedding feel special.
This sophisticated, sun-kissed wedding among the grapevines will be one I look back on fondly for years to come. Check out a few of my favorite photos from Sarah and Chris’ Ponte Winery wedding below.
