So here it is! My first official wedding since I've started this business. Whew! What an experience. I am so incredibly happy that Jess and Steven are such wonderful people to work with, and that they trusted my abilities to capture their most special day! When brides and grooms choose their wedding photographer they are trusting that this person will capture these special moments that only happen once, which is a role I take very seriously! Photographing Jess and Steven all day was such a fantastic experience, only confirming my love for weddings. The love that they share is so inspiring and I am so honored that I was able to be a part of it!
Jess and Steven chose to get married at the El Cortez in Downtown San Diego because of its history and city views. The feel of the El Cortez was historic and elegant because of its gold accents, dark wood and antique chandeliers. It is an absolutely beautiful place to tie the knot! Jess and Steven have been together for three and a half years now, and they had done most of their wedding planning by themselves. They are so easy going and simple! Jess wanted a theme of "Simple Elegance". She did a beautiful job making her vision a reality by using a gold theme with spring colors throughout the venue. The flowers were by Heavenly Gift & Florist and they were beautiful and perfect for a spring event!
Jess and her bridesmaids got ready at a house in Hill Crest that they rented for this special event. The makeup and hair were done by the fabulous Selina Bautista This was perfect because it was so close to the venue and they had all the privacy and freedom of getting ready in their own space. Steven and his groomsmen rented a room at a hotel next to the venue, so they could walk over when they were ready. Overall the day went smoothly and you could tell that they were so excited that the big day was finally here!
My favorite part of the day is when Jess walked out the door to see her groom at the altar. I could sense such happiness in her bright smile. The ceremony was beautiful and even had some laughter, especially when they kissed after their vows, they just couldn't resist waiting! After the ceremony we were able to go around the El Cortez and get some great photographs of downtown! They were so incredibly happy and Steven could not take his eyes off of Jess, he even called her a "supermodel". Which she was, I mean she looked totally gorgeous in her fitted dress and natural makeup!
I honestly was sad to leave that evening. Jess is one of those people that I enjoyed talking to, from our meeting in October to traveling from Orange County to San Diego to check out the venue, and doing their engagement photos in L.A. I got to know them really well! I was sad to see it all end. I am so incredibly happy for these two and know they will have a lifetime filled with love and happiness! Congrats you guys, I could not have imagined tackling my first all day wedding with anybody else!
