Taking the Starving Out of Artist Workshop // March 5th, 2019

It’s no secret that the photography market is flooded and running a business solo can be all kinds of overwhelming. There are bills to pay, taxes to file, equipment to buy, oh, and Becky, who inquired about your services for her wedding, just decided that your prices are too steep for her so she’s going with her BFF who will do it for 100 bucks instead.

If your stomach is doing backflips at the thought of your business’ finances, let me give you a hand. In this workshop, cosigned by my husband, Mr. Finance Degree And Employed By A Forbes Top 100 Finance Advisor himself, you’ll learn how to organize money, create the perfect pricing structure and even how to correctly work the use of film into your business. Learning how to build a sustainable business, get out of debt and put money aside so you don’t have to work until you’re 95 is a vital part of professional photography, and we are going to walk through it all step-by-step.

I am going to help you learn more about investing, retirement, ways to better manage your money, savings, and diversifying your income. This topic is one that I am so passionate about and it's also something that I know a lot of creative entrepreneurs could use help with. Personally, my husband being in the finance industry has bettered my business in many ways and I can't wait to share helpful tips that he has taught me for my business. I know it's something that we all do try to avoid at some capacity but it is the single most important thing in each of our businesses. Without financial sustainability in our businesses we cannot do what we love.

The workshop is open to 7 photographers and will take place on March 5th, 2019 at my home in Irvine (the final timeline is still being situated but you can expect an all day workshop starting early in the morning to allow us time to drive up to Beverly Hills) followed by a shoot with bride and groom models who are also a real couple. This will be a great time as questions about shooting as I go over posing, natural reactions, and lighting.

Here’s the fine print: Greystone Mansion (as I’m sure most of you know) is somewhat of a killjoy to set up. They do not allow non commercial shoots to be booked out earlier than a week prior - it’s usually not a problem but I do need to be transparent in case they book it that day for tourists or for filming. Our back up plan for the shoot will be the Alexandria Ballrooms and if we have to do it there you all will have a table to shoot as well where Greystone will be a couple only shoot. Both options will be great for lighting, architecture, and fine art images for your portfolio :)
